Its main characteristics are as follows:

(1) Excellent water retention
Water retention is one of the important indexes to measure the quality of cellulose ether, especially in thin layer construction. Improving the water retention of mortar can effectively prevent the drying of mortar caused by too fast water loss, as well as the strength reduction and cracking caused by insufficient cement hydration. The factors that affect the water retention of mortar include the content of cellulose ether, viscosity, fineness and use environment. Generally, the higher the viscosity, the finer the fineness, the larger the dosage, the better the water retention. The water retention of cellulose ether is related to the degree of etherification of cellulose, and the content of methoxide is high and the water retention is good.
(2) Strong adhesion and good sag resistance
Cellulose ether has a very good thickening effect, in the insulation mortar mixed with cellulose ether, can make the viscosity increase thousands of times, so that the mortar has better cohesibility, can make the paste tile has a good sagging resistance. The viscosity of cellulose ether can affect the bond strength, fluidity, structural stability and constructability of mortar .
Generally speaking, the higher the viscosity, the better the water retention effect, but the higher the viscosity, the higher the molecular weight of cellulose ether, its solubility will be reduced accordingly, which has a negative impact on the strength of mortar and construction performance. The higher the viscosity, the more sticky wet mortar will be, easy to stick scraper, and the increase of structural strength of wet mortar itself is not helpful, improve the anti-sagging effect is not obvious.
(3) Good solubility
Due to the special treatment of cellulose ether surface particles, whether in cement mortar, gypsum, or coating system, solubility is very good, not easy to aggregate, fast dissolution rate.
